Elective Grading under the Pass/Fail System
Students may change only one (1) letter-graded elective, to Pass/Fail credit under the following University guidelines:
- Students must be registered for at least nine (9) hours of letter grade credit during the semester in which they take an elective course for Pass/Fail credit.
- No more than four (4) credit hours during a single semester (one elective course and one physical education activity course) can be taken Pass/Fail.
- A maximum of eleven (11) hours of Pass/Fail credit may be applied to graduation requirements.
- General College requirements may not be taken for Pass/Fail.

Pharmacy courses and immersion experiences graded soley on a H/P/L/F basis or graduate level courses that are graded soley on a H/P/L/F basis are not counted toward the hours limitations described above for courses that you electively declare “Pass/Fail” under the University’s Pass/Fail declaration guidelines for elective courses.
Some professional elective courses taught in the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy may NOT be taken Pass/Fail. Please review course descriptions carefully before registering for professional elective
